Our Technology Heritage
Continuous Oral Delivery originated with inventors Adam and Ephraim Heller, whose careers span breakthrough technologies across medicine and engineering. Their previous innovations include technology behind the FreeStyle blood glucose monitoring business, acquired by Abbott for approximately $1.2 billion. Today, Contoral is building on this foundation and advancing Continuous Oral Delivery as a broader platform.
From Parkinson’s to a Broader Platform
The technology was initially developed as DopaFuse, an approach to continuous oral delivery of levodopa for people with Parkinson’s disease, and advanced through Phase 2 clinical development. The DopaFuse opportunity remains available for strategic development, while Contoral is building on the underlying technology as a broader Continuous Oral Delivery platform.
A Belief in the Idea
When Jennifer Harmon first encountered Continuous Oral Delivery at SynAgile in 2017, she immediately saw its potential beyond a single drug or disease. It could reduce side effects, help people who struggle to swallow pills, and enable more precise drug delivery.
Then Dr. Gopal Iyer, a head and neck cancer surgeon at National Cancer Centre Singapore, asked if the technology could help his patients with severe dry mouth after cancer treatment. That question led Jennifer to discover how significant and overlooked the need was.
When DopaFuse development later stalled after Phase 2, Jennifer continued to pursue the idea. She founded Contoral Health to take Continuous Oral Delivery forward, starting with dry mouth.

A clinical research professional with more than 20 years of experience in medicinal product development. Jennifer previously led clinical affairs and supported regulatory development at SynAgile before founding Contoral Health.
A chemical engineer and former A*STAR Innovation Fellow with a PhD in Chemical Engineering. Ling Xin leads the engineering and development of Contoral’s Continuous Oral Delivery platform.
An internationally recognized oral medicine specialist and Professor and Chair at Wake Forest University. Dr. Brennan brings extensive expertise in dry mouth and his own lived experience.
